Engaging and Empowering Youth Voices

A guide for Empowering Young People to Share Personal Experiences of Parental Incarceration with Purpose

Engaging and Empowering Youth Voices
Guidance for Organizations and Youth

Written by: Chantel Jackson, 2023 See Us, Support Us Youth Fellow; and Allison Hollihan, Osborne Association

Forward by: Emani Davis, The Omowale Project

Children and young adults who experience the arrest or incarceration of a parent may be asked to share their personal experiences publicly. They deserve to speak on their own terms, from a place of intention and informed choice.

This new publication offers guidance for young people and adults who collaborate with them. It is informed by the personal experiences of young people, and the lessons and wisdom they have shared.
